Isn't your heart weak? One minute to know

The risk of heart disease increases with age, which can have many causes, but without a test, you can know how good heart health is?

If you can climb 60 steps in less than a minute, it indicates good heart health. This was revealed in a new medical study in Spain.

The staircase test is an easy way to determine heart health, according to research from the University of La Coruna Hospital. If it takes a person more than a minute and a half to climb 60 steps or four steps of stairs, health is not much better and better. Consult a doctor.

The study analyzed the relationship between daily activities such as climbing stairs and exercise tests in the laboratory, and according to the researchers, we discovered that this method is an easy and inexpensive way to check heart health.

He said this would help doctors to prioritize more detailed examinations of patients.

The study included 165 patients with symptoms of heart disease and was advised to have an exercise test to check for arterial disease.

These symptoms include chest pain or shortness of breath during physical activity.

In the exercise test, volunteers were asked to walk or run on a running machine, and the intensity was gradually increased, and this continued until they became tired.

The METS scale was used for exercise ability.

After the workout, the men were allowed to rest for 15 to 20 minutes, and then they were instructed to climb 60 steps at a faster pace, but this was to be done without running, and their time was recorded.

The researchers analyzed the relationship between exercise and climbing stairs and found that those who managed to climb stairs in 40 to 45 seconds had a METS score of 9.10.

Previous research reports have shown that those who score 10 METS in an exercise test have a 10% reduction in mortality over the next 10 years.

In contrast, those who took a minute and a half to climb the stairs had a score of less than 8 METs, with a mortality rate of up to 30% over the next 10 years.

During the running machine, the researchers also took pictures of the heart to monitor heart function during exercise, if the heart works normally, it indicates that the risk of heart disease is low.

It was later compared to a stair-climbing test.

Abnormalities of heart function discovered in 58% of patients who spent more than a minute and a half climbing stairs.

In contrast, only 32% of those who managed to climb stairs in less than a minute had abnormal heart functions.

The researchers said that this indicates that the stair test works in a similar way to the exercise test.
