Relin: Experts have shown that even a slight movement of the wrist and arm during sleep can indicate the speed of breathing and the condition of the heart.
We know that the way we breathe, the speed and duration of breathing in a minute also tells a variety of physical conditions and diseases.
Now German and Israeli experts have jointly considered whether physical movements and special instruments measuring them (activity trackers) can replace standard ECGs (electrocardiograms measuring heart activity).
For this, Professor Thomas Penzel of the University of Halle in Germany and his colleagues put an electronic bandage on the wrists of 400 patients who could note even the slightest movement. But the strip also takes ECG through the skin through the electrode.
Scientists note that whenever there is a slight movement in the patient's hand during sleep, it must be related to the heart or breath. Thus patient data was taken for a long time and ECG was also noted. Then it was examined in-depth with special algorithms and software.
According to scientists, there are many places in the night sleep when even a slight movement of the arm or hand can tell the duration of breathing. In this way, the devices worn on the wrist can tell the condition of breathing and heart.
The speed of breathing can reveal many physical secrets. Breathing only 12 to 18 times a minute is a sign of the disease and if the number of breaths is less than 6 in a minute, it is a sign of a deadly disease. Similarly, rapid breathing in one minute also indicates heart and lung disease.
In this way, thanks to the devices worn on the wrist, especially during sleep, breathing and heart conditions can be detected. This information can be obtained by hand movement.
